|Foreword by the Editor-in-Chief|
Welcome to the presentation of the maiden issue of the Journal of Clinical and Applied Neurosciences. The journal belongs to the Nigerian Society of Neurological Sciences which has been in existence for almost five decades. “Better late than never” is an appropriate description of the birth of the journal, which we are indeed proud of. The field of neurosciences is very wide, and there is tremendous growth in research and applications. We, therefore, feel it is appropriate that we have a journal that will project research outputs in the specialty.
Neurological diseases accounted for over 7% of the global burden of diseases and 1071 out of 100,000 disability adjusted life years (DALYs) in 2010.
Our main goal is to be the best outlet for excellent neurosciences research carried out by our members and colleagues in the specialty, with an international appeal. The editorial team will uphold ethical standards without prejudice to anyone, irrespective of professional status and affiliations.
We will devote special issues to presentations at our annual conference and will cover all aspects of neurosciences from basic sciences to clinical sciences and from exotic to the sublime. We will make our journal appealing to all categories of readers because these are interesting times in neurosciences.
I, therefore, enjoin members to submit interesting manuscripts for publication.
